On Tuesday, June 24, 2008, the Oyster Bay Town Board voted unanimously in favor of Stop & Shop’s plans to build a new supermarket on the corner of Main Street & Motor Avenue. As many of you know, this has been a long process. However, in the end, thanks to the tremendous support of the Farmingdale community, particularly the 2,300-plus household members of the Citizens for a New Liberty, the town board gave the overwhelming majority of Farmingdale residents what they wanted.

The next steps will involve the permitting process, followed by the actual construction of the new store. At this point, we cannot predict exactly when that will be, but Stop & Shop will do everything possible to expedite matters on the opening of this store as quickly as possible. We will also apprise the community as things move along, so please check back on this website for further updates.
